Acknowledgement

What is the one thing all human beings want? Attention. (Women maybe a liiiittle more than men!).

It’s true that if you want something from someone, or Universe, you have to give it first.

Not have to give it first, but usually it works that way for me. If you treat people nice, people will be nice to you; if you smile, usually, people will smile back at you, if you donate money to good causes, money will come back to you, etc..
Human beings are strange in the sense that we go on automatic and get used to situations, people, being healthy, having food on our table and being taken care of. I think at some point there’s a fine line where the ‘giver’ starts to wonder if he or she is getting back what they want, what they need. And if the answer is no, then all hell could break loose!

I say could, because this is where our beliefs, patterns and values kick in. Am I supposed to keep on giving even if I’m not getting back what I want?  I am giving to the right people or places? How long do I continue giving and waiting to get back what I want? Maybe I should hold on to this job, relationship, treatment because things will change. Guilt, responsibility, fear, doubt kick in.

Of course how much one gives is a choice. And what expectations we have on the ‘return of investment’ is also a choice.
So, this is when we start to think what kind of relationships we want. Is where you’re putting your focus and energy the worthiest place for it? If you would give a little less to these people or situations, will their lives change significantly? In a positive or negative way? Would yours?

In the descriptions in Wikipedia, Acknowledgement related to law is a declaration or avowal of one’s own act, to give it legal validity. Related to creative arts it’s a statement of gratitude for assistance in producing a work.

I took these two examples, because I think it’s hard to pin-point exactly all that acknowledgement witholds. For me it’s a combination of declaring the act of someone, recognizing them and thanking them.

How do you feel when someone asks you about your job, but really wants to know, in detail?! First you’ll think she or he is a freak. Then you’ll get so excited in the story that you’ll just feel good! How do you feel when your couple tells you how much you do for her or him? How much he or she learns from you? Grows thanks to you?  And how about your guests complementing you on the dinner you just prepared for them? Or your kids seeing you tired one evening and asking you about your day? Nice ah?

Someone you care about sees you, recognizes you and you feel supported, loved. As Robert Dilts would say, someone that sponsors you.

Here is my point. I think nowadays the concept of acknowledging other people has faded away. We are so busy wanted to be acknowledged that we forget to do it first!

What’s worse I think, is the NON acknowledgement.

When you come across people that make a point of not acknowledging you because maybe it takes away from them. I know this may sound strong, but I think that’s a sign of weakness and selfishness. We are so caught up in our routine and insecurities, that we have a hard time opening our hearts to other people. The declaration of saying you do this great, I think is nowadays tacitly taken as, and I am not so this means I am less cool. It’s not a competition!

I’ve come across people during my life that specifically made a point of non acknowledging me, and it’s a very confusing feeling.

The sense of being purposefully not recognized and seen, acknowledged. It’s not that they don’t like me, they just don’t “like” me! And I see the effort they put into NON acknowledging me. Like if I took away form them, I don’t know ( I have my theory of course, but that would be a whole other article!).

These people have taught me so much, because in my wanting to be liked by everyone, I could not stand the fact of not being accepted by them. Until I finally realized that what I wanted I had to give to myself. And what they didn’t ‘give’ me was something they couldn’t give to themselves. Then I stopped looking at them and why this and why that. Doesn’t matter, that’s they’re journey, I needed to focus on mine.

Don’t wait to get from someone else something that you will NEVER get because they’re unable to give it to you. If you decide to give, knowing that you will not be acknowledged, that’s another thing.

Invest and spend time with people that give you the attention you deserve and don’t waste your time and energy chasing the challenge of conquering an enemy.

Enough to know why their indifference bothers you so much, and then move on. There are so many people out there waiting for your acknowledgement and unconditional attention!

Remember to give it to yourself first!

Have a great week,

Nancy

The number one sales technique

Tonight I went to mass with Martina, my oldest daughter who did her first communion a few weeks ago. Last Monday at 9pm, her catechist called me to let me know of the future events of the church. One of them was mass today, Friday at 6.30 pm and then a little get together party. Of 65 kids that celebrated their first communion last month, this afternoon, there were 40. 62% of attendance…amazing!

This result I think is a model of which to learn from. Automatically my sales head started to think of the key factors of this success.
What does Don Sergio and his parish do in an excellent way that makes his clients come back and buy.

1. The relationship doesn’t end with the sale.

Once the high of the communion was over, the focus of the kids and parents drifted away.

Mission accomplished, that was done.

When we close a deal with a client, often we drift away and go on to the next challenge. It’s normal, we enjoy the high of the sell, the victory. So did the client, and then?

Like in a relationship, you court your man or woman, do anything for them and once they’re in, you let go of the intensity of the care.

2. So how to make your customers come back? Go get them!
If Nicoletta hadn’t called me to tell me about this mass tonight, we wouldn’t have gone. Maybe a Sunday here and there, but definitely not a Friday at 6:30 on a sunny spring day.

Follow up on your satisfied customers. They already said yes once, it’s most likely they’ll keep on saying yes to you because you already built a trusting relationship.
Sometimes we tend to ‘abandon’ our existing good clients in the effort to find new ones. When, it’s our raving fans that will help us grow and talk well about us. Let’s keep them happy.

3. Give your clients what they’re expecting from you.

Don Sergio tailor made the mass for his newly loyal customers. What hooked Martina to Church tonight was that she was going to be able to have the communion and that it was a mass for her and her friends. He gave meaning and explained every passage of the readings in a simple and practical way. For example he explained that ‘our grandparents built the churches so tall because in those days they wanted to feel that they could be closer to the sky’. He answered to such a tacit question I’m sure all kids (and most adults) have once asked themselves.

Don’t overwhelm your clients with things that aren’t important in that moment. Give them what they like to get from you. Just your presence and your LISTENING is enough sometimes.

4. Stay professional. Don’t lower your standards.
Upon arrival at the church the usual catechists were there to greet us and to tell the kids where to sit. With their usual smile and unconditional service.
How many times after we become ‘friendlier’ with our customers we stop doing things we do at the beginning. Like not explaining things about our product or service that we think they already know. It strengthens your brand.

5. Over deliver.
To top it off, there was a little party after mass to celebrate…helloooo??? Off course no strings attached and if you could bring something, great, if not, that’s ok! This unconditional giving from their part, puts me in a position to feel grateful and wanting to give back. It makes me be proud to be part of that parish. A more tangible result would be the fact that it makes me want to give paper money during the offer rather than coins. Or making a point in excusing myself personally with the organizers for not being able to attend the party. Caring, wanting to help in future occasions.

There would be a whole big space to talk about why some parishes are more successful than others. This is not the point right now.

Sticking to sales, I once again confirm what I strongly believe in and live by every day.

Why do clients buy you?
Passion!
It transpires through you and is sticky, contagious.

Why do they come back to you or want to deal only with you?
Passion!

Why do you do what you do well?
Passion!
Only if you do what you love, you will be successful 100%.

So ask yourself…am I passionate about what I do? If so, good job!

If not, what I do serves me to do or get what I’m passionate about?

If you don’t know what you’re passionate about, are you able to do things passionately?

That’s a great start! People buy you and everyone loves to feel passion.

Have a great week-end!

20th May – Revolution of Thought

I have received this message by Ursuss from Pleiadi, Ursuss is our supporter into the
Matter, He prepares all those that come to the Earth with a Project. The opportunity
he gives us is that to put at the Earth disposal the frequencies that will create during
the Planetary Alignment. In what consists this opportunity, it consists into allow us to
listen to us and to Think how we would like that our Personal Project would be
achieved, turning us away from the non positive situation that the terrestrials are
living.
It comes to remind us that they attack us on the Matter to weaken the Spirit.
On the 20th of May it is useful to create all together a revolution of Thought, how?
Create a Thought independently from your reality that is a Constructive and that
brings Realization and Redevelopment.
By removing the thought of the Lack that limits you Thoughts creating so the reality
We create a New Reality that respects the Human Being and His Divinity.
Anna Federighi

INDICATIONS FOR THE 20TH OF MAY 2012 – ALIGNMENT EARTH-PLEIADI-SUN
AB790
A Pleiadian Greeting to you all.
I communicate the opportunity that the Pleiades give to the Earth in the alignment
that will occur on the 20th of May 2012.
In what does it consist?
In the a very important energetic opportunity.
Why is something very important happening?
To be aligned means an interaction of convergence that occurs in the moment that the
trajectory unifies, and in this thing it encodes into the alignment and then think of
how much information can be transmitted in this particular condition.
Think you can wrap the Earth the Pleiades and the Sun into a unique harmonic
bending in which each element yields a connection to another amplified by the
introduction of frequencies in this case aligned that reinforce and develop into a small
space that makes possible an interchange without losing the potential that is
determined by the position favoring the exchange.
It is a means to learn more about the condition Spirit-Matter into the unification of
the plan to arrive not to overlap but to join into the human soul to take important
decisions from the unification that is in you but is not into your actions.
Do you understand the opportunities you have?
If you put yourself in connection with the inner structure of a dialer program that sets
in motion the process of transformation both toward the Matter and the Spirit, you’ll
find that through the matter they want to restrict the Spirit!
Don’t allow this otherwise the matter will crumble without the support of the Spirit.
But the Spirit too will follow this process if you don’t balance within you this
indissoluble connection.

Then let’s realize that the means to stem the gap is the Consciousness of what you
think and how you act.
The Consciousness knows that everything is unified but the mind influenced by the
misleading messages dissociates and so starts the fear of losing and not being able to
handle the failure.
Toward what is useful to go?
Deep inside your heart there is the solution, where to direct, where to create, where
to get back the trust in yourself, in your abilities.
It ‘s time to take action in the new things of collaboration with others to form a new
force acting on the information that goes towards penalizing, to find in the union nontraditional
situations, to find that you cannot penalize the Matter without
compromising the Spirit .
And it is here in the division that they want to convey you, weakening in the Matter to
attack the Spirit.
Don’t join this program, but take the opportunity that soon there will be the alignment
to draw energy from the Pleiades – INNOVATION – and Sun – STRUCTURE -.
That is to say that you can program a new thought on you, always first it is useful to
go out of the fear of lack to have available a programmation that eliminating the old
can start a NEW MOVEMENT OF CONSCIENCE.
It is giving energy to the changement that you will be stronger both in one and in the
other case.
Is important to get from this energy of Planetary sharing which provides New
Collaborating Organizations.
So that what is going on in Heaven may also occur on Earth.
Prepare a plan to head toward the new with my unconditional support, being your
supporter in the Matter, that is the condensed manifestation of the Spirit!
A Pleiadian greeting and I wait for you with your personal schedule to connect it to
that of many brothers and so then think what revolution in thought there will be!
It is this the means, it is this the right time.

To get to the top, you need to work hard

In the past few weeks I’ve noticed  an ever growing difference among people.

There are those who want to get to the top but don’t want to break a sweat. There are those who do their best every day and, sooner or later, they make it.

I’m not a mountaineer, I am using this metaphor, like many others do, because it works.

Those who really go to the mountains know what hard work means, they know the aim is not the top but they work hard to get there and once they make it, they enjoy the view.

The lazy ones staying in the valley usually judge those who reach the top, they  even judge harshly those who try and don’t make it.

Those who work hard every day, whenever they achieve a goal, hear people say “you’re so lucky! You have a job you like, you’re in a nice relationship, you’re healthy” or whatever else…

I think there are a lot of spoilt people around. In the worst sense of the word. They have the bad habit of taking everything for granted and due to them, from life, from people, everything. Like newborn babies, they don’t know how hard it is for parents to wake up to feed them, and they cry as soon as things are not exactly the way they want them.

Crisis act as dividing lines. There’s economic crisis, health crisis, faith crisis, relationship crisis or a crisis for a competitor becoming more aggressive…

I was reading an article on the US swimmer Michael Phelps,  you may remember him for his 8 gold medals at the Beijing Olympics. Phelps, other than just for winning so much, is known for being a very nice, down to earth guy. The article reported three things in his attitude that sparked my interest.

One, a lot of sacrifice

“At high school I didn’t hang out with friends every day or every weekend. High school parties were something I was willing to give up in order to reach what I wanted”.

Phelps has always wanted to win a lot and he paid the price for it. I honestly wouldn’t like to be in his place, his life is swimming and little more than that. Having said that, I want to learn from him and apply his teachings to my life, so I’m asking you: are you willing to give something up in order to get your gold medal? Are you willing to give up your pride in order to win a gold medal in your relationship? Are you willing to give up a few hours on the sofa to win a gold medal for your health or knowledge? Are you willing to put yourself to the test in order to get a gold medal in satisfaction and leave your fear behind?

Two, learn from mistakes

“Being arrested for drunk-driving was a learning experience. I learnt so much from that mistake, I think I grew up more there than anywhere else”.

Nobody’s perfect, not even you. What counts is what you make of your mistakes. Will you justify them, will you punish yourself or will you learn?

Phelps is still an active promoter of an awareness campaign on alcohol and drunk-driving. His mistake made him mature and it motivated him to do more, better and for others.

What mistake could you transform?

Three, appreciate uncertainty.

“After swimming, I don’t know what I want to do. I definitely want to stay in sports, but I am not sure what field I want to get into. I am not afraid of the future, the time will come when I’m ready to retire, but it’s definitely not here yet”.

Tony Robbins says a person’s quality of life is directly proportionate to the amount of uncertainty they are able to deal with comfortably (and the key word here is comfortably). As I say in my last  audio book the future is more uncertain than ever. At the same time security is the most wanted value in the world!

We have to find certainty within ourselves, if we look for it outside, we’re doomed. Those who were able to work deeply on themselves (what we do at Extraordinary Me) know that when times are tough, it’s inner strength that counts.

The earth will shake beneath our feet, sooner or later, and if we have house built on solid foundations, it will quake slightly but there will be nothing to fear.

We all know our life doesn’t depend solely on ourselves, At the same time we also know we can do something. Sure, the valley is more comfortable, the sofa is comfy, our status quo is comfortable.

For those who start climbing, there is no guarantee of reaching the aim and the peak of life seems to get higher by the day.

One thing is for sure, those who leave and arrive are not lucky. They worked hard and they reap what they sow.

Start climbing. The valley is too crowded with unsatisfied people and if you stay there they will affect you, and I wouldn’t like to hear you say “you’re so lucky”, I’d rather hear you say “I’m so lucky for having had the strength and the will to climb”.

Have a nice week.

Empowerment

We’re living in tough times. The crisis is real. Maybe someone sees it darker than it actually is, but as a matter of fact many companies are facing difficulties and many people are struggling.

The bad news is that we don’t know what’s going to happen. It’s a new situation, anything could finish or change completely. Maybe the Maya (or those interpreting them) were right?

The good news is that there are no experts. The world is so different and the challenges so new that those with experience, at times, are disadvantaged. Most companies I know employ less creative people in executive positions. The board of directors is made up of people with tens of years of experience applying old solutions to new problems. In Spiral Dunamics we would say this can never work, as the great Einstein said “We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them ”, we need to change.

I have the honour of working side by side with illuminated entrepreneurs and managers that challenge everything, even their own ideas, and this is why they innovate and they grow also and especially in times like these. Today, we need people that know not to know, that ask, watch and listen. People who know that ideas can come from anybody and anywhere.

Other entrepreneurs and managers that, instead of carrying out work, instead of answering questions, they ask them, They know you have been hired and they pay you to do something, and they want you to do it.

We should all take some more respons-ibility when looking for solutions. We should all support each other and work as a team. Empowerment shouldn’t be  something that comes solely from high above.

It shouldn’t be the boss to empower the colleague, it shouldn’t be the parent to empower the child. We should all do it to everyone, or better, everyone should do it for themselves. Whoever is on top should leave the ones below a little space to grow, and those down below should get going at it.

What do you do? Do you leave room for those who have to grow? Do you exploit what you have to grow yourself?

What could you do every day to improve these two aspects of your personal and professional life?

Remember that one small thing is enough to change everything. Today I let someone else tale a decision. It wasn’t easy to yield control, but it was very useful to me.

The result, of course, is extraordinary!

Have a good week.
