The Placebo Effect

It’s a scientifically proven fact that we ourselves can affect the outcome of any treatments, be they medically proven or more faith based based on how likely we think we are to recieve any benefits from them. So my thought is thus – does it matter as long as it works?

The placebo effect is strange in so much as we can even be aware of it, and yet our minds are still able to ignore the contradictions and benefits can still be felt, be they real or imagined, and that for me is the cruz of the thing. When we truly believe in something, reason is often discarded in spite of logic or reason or even evidence, and that to me is the true marvel of the placebo effect, that even in full knowledge that it can’t be helping, it still sometimes manages too.
